Working to assist girls and women: what makes this commitment different?

On October 12, the Centre Français des Fonds et

Fondations (French Funds and Foundations Center) is holding a luncheon-discussion in Paris on the theme of specificaction for girls and women, organized expressly for foundations stemming from or having close ties with business.

This luncheon and dialogue event will allow funds and foundations that have identified girls and/or women as a priority target among their beneficiaries to present their latest initiatives and discuss issues that arise in the course of their work.

This event will also be when Karen Weisblatt will share key lessons to be drawn from the latest study commissioned by the Mama Cash fund, “Untapped Potential: European Foundation Funding for Women and Girls.” To further enhance discussions, several organizations will share details of their work on behalf of women: the PPR Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights, the Arborus Endowment Fund for Professional Gender Equality in Europe, and the Amisse Foundation for the economic empowerment of women.

Q'antati, the Women Artisans of El Alto, Bolivia

The Amisse Foundation supports the Q'antati association, in partnership with the NGO AVSF (Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders). This involvement allows the foundation to take action in Bolivia, particularly in the La Paz-El Alto region. The purpose of the Q'antati project is to modernize of the weaving of animal wools.

Weaving serves as an important source of employment and complementary income for women in Bolivia. The project directly and indirectly helps 190 people involved with the co-op and reinforces the expansion of this business activity.

1 femme, 1 foyer, 1 forêt (1 woman, 1 stove, 1 forest)

The Amisse Foundation is joining forces with the NGO Entrepreneurs du Monde for the 1 femme, 1 foyer, 1 forêt project. The project’s goal is to fight deforestation in the Léo, Koudougou-Réo, and Ouagadougou regions of Burkina Faso by developing the production, sale, and use of improved wood stoves and gas stoves through microfinancing and the training of women shea butter producers.
